We are a small family from Southern Finland. Our family includes me Susanna, my partner Jussi and my son Miro.
Our family also includes a gang of five dogs.
Maisa is the oldest dog in our family. She is a whippet. A girl who loves peace and warmth. Nowadays Maisa is spending a really quiet and peaceful retirement days. Sometimes she want's to go for a little longer walks with us and she want's to run free and play. Maisa can choose herself - what she wants to do or what she doesn't want to do. When she was younger she trained and competed sometimes in track racing and lure coursing. She didn't succeed that much. I think that she thought it was just very fun to run fast. We have also been to some dog shows in Finland and Estonia. Maisa is a show champion of both Estonia and Finland. Hopefully we still have a lot of time together to create new memories!
Jaava is a sloughi girl from my first litter. Jaava is pretty special in her persona. The breed itself can be a little special - compared to the "ordinary dog breeds". But Jaava is a little bit extra. With all love! Jaava doesn't know that she is a little bit older these days. She can run very fast and plays like a puppy. Otherwise she is a really calm dog and very discreet. She blends in very well with her favorite chair. Jaava goes crazy when she sees for example a hare or squirrel, but she has never chased any "plastic bunnies" with any big enthusiasm. Jaava has been trained both for track racing and lure coursing when she was younger. But she ran seriously only for the joy of running. She could have run around the track without the lure even three times. Jaava is Finnish show champion and has two veteran winner titles from 2021.
Sohvi is the only shepherd in our family. And I honestly think that she doesn't know that she is a white swiss shepherd and not a sighthound. We haven't tried herding, but when she sees or smells a hare or squirrel she goes crazy too. She really thinks she is one of the sighthounds. Sohvi loves everything we do together. And she also loves to run free. She enjoys our cycling trips in the woods too. Sohvi was afraid of water when he was younger. Which also is pretty untypical for the breed. But now, as an adult, Sohvi likes to swim. We have only been to a few dog shows with Sohvi. But in the future we will attempt more. Sohvi has grown up and grown to a good size bitch. She was quite small and petit when he was younger. Now she has clearly developed and got great out lines. Sohvi has two litter's at Safe Guardian's kennel.
Alma is our family's clown. She is a wire haired dachshund. Alma is a dog owned by Jussi, but of course loved by our whole family. Alma has a funny sense of humor and has a lot of all her own pranks and stuff that she presents to us every day. Sighthounds can be pretty calm in nature and pretty self-centered. But Alma has a lot of humor. Everyone who meets Alma is guaranteed to fall in love with her. She charms everyone with her big and captivating personality. Although she is a small dog in size, she has a huge personality. Alma is a relaxed and fearless dog. And Alma's nose works 110%. She smells all the animals from very far away and she also announces it very loudly. We plan to start the blood training seriously and take Alma to the tests as well. Alma has been to a few shows and she has done very well in the big classes. Alma hates water. When it's rainy outside I always say that Alma puts her high heels on when she goes for a walk. Her height rises with many cents in the rain when she goes with the tips of her nails outside so her paws don't get wet!
Ronja is the smallest but most peppery dog in our family. Ronja is a miniature smooth haired dachshund. Ronja is a really happy and playful little girl. She also has a good sense of humor and some pranks herself. Ronja loves water, she loves to swim. She also loves to play. She carries her best toys to me every day and then I have to throw or hide them for her. Ronja has attempted some dog shows and she is Estonian Junior Champion and she has two junior titles from 2021. Ronja should also start training for the blood track. Ronja have one litter at Noux Prestige kennel.
I am also a co-owner of a sloughi.
Amor is Jaavas brother and he lives with Pentti Pietiläinen and a sloughi boy in Southern Finland. He is the father of my B-litter.
Our daily activities with our dogs include long walks, cycling, dog shows, match shows and traveling.
I got my kennel name, Bijou Unique, in 2012.
My first slough litter was born in 2013 and the second in 2017.
